Just put a new 46re in my truck last Sunday. At first it shifted fine while I was sitting in the garage rowing thru the gears to check if they all engage correcty. Then after 30 mins of running the trans got stuck in Park. So I put the t-case in Neutral then I was able to pull the shifter out of park.

In most cases, this will happen either when going through 1st to 3rd gear or when shifting from 3th to 4th gear. Possible causes If the issue affects gears 1-3, the most likely reason is within the governor pressure solenoid or the corresponding sensor. The solenoid wears out or gets stuck, which prevents proper operation.At the same time, the check engine line immediately came on. I proceeded to pull over to the side of the road and go through ur basic routine of checking the fluid, running through other gears etc and all checked out normal. But when put it D, it takes off from and drives in 3rd gear. Other day was driving at interstate speeds in 13 Screw (74 in a 65 zone on cruise control) when I noticed truck was only in 5th gear. Shut off cruise and let off pedal to see if it would shift up to 6 and it wouldn't also tried to button shift up and gear indicator disappeared, hit button again and gear position indicator returned in 5th.

Trans was just rebuilt due to burnt overdrive pack and loose planetary (missing needle bearings!) So...got it all back together and it seems to be stuck in limp mode. It starts in second gear, wont upshift.A good friend of mine just bought a brand new 2009 (on my recommendation) and after 200 miles, the transmission started "slipping" and it got stuck in 3rd gear. He couldn't get it to shift, even in manual mode. The check engine light illuminated but no codes were stored. He had it towed to the dealer and they couldn't replicate the problem.
